How have your skills grown in: reading, writing, and oral communication? give examples.
Firstly, my reading skills have grown a lot, before I was unable to read at all. I couldn't really understand similes, and I struggled with metaphors. Now I feel comfortable reading poems that have these, I am able to read and interpret all of these poetic devices. Next, my writing I think has became much better, I feel more comfortable writing longer paragraphs rather than just 1 paragraph. With the lesson 18 I felt as if I was able to answer each question without double guessing myself. With oral communication, I was able to better myself by reading out loud the news article, I summarized it and worked on my tone, and with you as my audience I knew what to say and my word choice.
How have your skills grown in narrative, persuasive, descriptive, and expository communication? give examples.
I feel like when I wrote the story about eric, I felt very comfortable doing that, I learned a lot about the second, third and first person type of books, I learnt the word choice and how to describe a setting properly. I felt good over all with narrative. Persuasive I don't really feel as if I changed much there, with the essay I worked on I had already felt good with persuasive, I feel as if maybe I've learned a bit more on the word choice but other than that I felt good. Lastly for descriptive and expository communication, I feel like I've been able to get my point across much better, I feel as If I don't double guess my self anymore, I feel like I've worked on that especially. I feel much comfortable overall with all my skills.
Looking forward, how will you use different types of communication in your life, work and schooling?
I feel as if I'll use written communication much more effectively, being able to write narratively, and descriptively is super important for essays and I learned and gained a lot of skill doing that. For non-verbal communication I've definitely learned a lot more about body language than I did before, I feel as if Ill be able to be more social because of that. For visual communication I can definitely use more photos to show how i get my point across. Lastly for oral communication, i am much more confident in my voice speaking, knowing the tone and my audience is super important.
Where did you find yourself challenged? What strategies did you use to work through any challenges you faced?
I found myself challenged in a couple ways, firstly being time. I procrastinated a lot and I've basically done half of the assignments in the last week, I didn't do any work for the first 3 weeks because I was busy with work and my relationship which I shouldn't have done. I just locked in, I just focused and tried to get as much done in a day as possible. Yet I still maintained that effort in trying so that i wouldn't get bad grades. Next, I felt as if i struggled with the putting my words to expressions with nature, i was super confused about that, I don't even know if I did good. I just tried my best, I took time to think about it, and brainstormed everything.
